Project Life Saver
Over 50,000 people in the USA have Alzheimer’s and related mental disorders. That number will triple by 2050. Well over 50% of these people wander and become lost. A lost person with Alzheimer’s or other related dementia represents a critical emergency. They are unaware of their situation, they do not call out for help and do not respond to people calling out to them. Nearly half of them will die and many can become injured or fall victim to predators if they are not located within 24 hours.
If you are not yet touched by someone with Alzheimer’s, autistism or some other related disorder, chances are you will be within the next several years. Project Lifesaver deploys specially trained teams with the most reliable technology available to quickly locate and return wandering adults and children to their families.
Project Lifesaver relies on advanced technology and a highly trained rapid response team of law enforcement agencies. Participants wear a wristband transmitter that emits a signal picked up by special receivers with directional antennas.
Caregivers check the wristband daily to make sure the transmitter signal is strong and the wristband is secure. The transmitter’s battery requires a monthly change, which is conducted by specially trained deputy’s of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.
In the event a participant wanders off, the caregiver will contact law enforcement and the search and rescue team is deployed utilizing Project Lifesaver’s specialized equiment
